3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect solely to operate and improve the Wild Lands bot. Specifically:

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to the operation of Wild Lands.

4. Why We Need Privileged Intents

Wild Lands requests the following Discord privileged intents, which are required for the bot to function correctly:

Guild Members Intent We fetch guild member information to display your server display name on lobby cards, join announcements, round cards, and winner announcements. Without this intent, the bot cannot accurately identify and display players within a game.

Message Content Intent We read message content in active game channels for two specific purposes:

  1. Lobby reposting — We count the number of messages posted in a game lobby channel. Once 15 messages have been sent, the lobby embed is automatically reposted at the bottom of the channel to keep it visible to players.

  2. Player status queries — During an active game, players may send a message asking whether they are still alive (e.g. "am I dead?"). The bot reads message content solely to detect these queries and respond with the player's current status. This helps players who may have missed round announcements check whether they are still in the game.

Message content is read in real time for these purposes only. It is never stored, logged, or retained in any form. No message content is written to our database or kept beyond the immediate processing of the message.

We do not request or use the Presence Intent.

5. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database hosted on a private server. We use SQLCipher encryption to protect stored data at rest. The encryption key is stored separately as an environment variable and is never hardcoded into the application. Access to the database is restricted to the bot operator.

We retain your data for as long as you have an account with Wild Lands or until you request deletion. Game records and transaction logs may be retained for a reasonable period after account deletion for integrity and dispute resolution purposes.

Wild Lands is intended for users aged 13 and over, in line with Discord's Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect data from users under the age of 13. If you believe a user under 13 has interacted with the bot, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version in the Wild Lands Discord server and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of Wild Lands after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
